The winners in Scotland’s national competition which recognises excellence in the Scottish new build housing sector, have been announced at the annual industry celebration and dinner held Glasgow last night.

Over 540 guests gathered to celebrate the 15th annual Scottish Home Awards, sponsored by Ross & Liddell, as the developments, homes and teams were named as winners in the wide-ranging competition which each year attracts over 60 of Scotland’s leading house builders.

Springfield Group collected the ultimate award, the Scottish House Builder of the Year, after an impressive year of business across the country and covering multiple brands.  The Springfield Group which is made up of Springfield Properties, Springfield Partnerships, Dawn Homes, Walker Group and Tulloch Homes is one of the largest housebuilders in Scotland and delivers over 1,000 new homes a year.

Also collecting a major award was Living by Robertson which collected the award for House Builder of the Year (Under 100 units)

The essential delivery of new and affordable housing was reflected in the awards with numerous presentations made.  The regeneration of Dalmarnock in Glasgow was recognised in two awards presented to McTaggart Construction.   Riverside, Dalmarnock was announced as winner of Housing Regeneration of the Year and the company also collected the prize for Affordable Housing Development of the Year.

In Edinburgh, the long-term development of The Playfair at Donaldsons was recognised with City & Country collecting the award for Renovation of the Year.  Glencairn Properties won Apartment Development of the Year for their sensitive conversion of an art deco cinema in Leith.  Cala Homes East were also presented with the award for Innovation in Design for their conversion of a former school called Boroughmuir.

The highly respected judging panel assessed more than 130 entries in 14 categories received from organisations from across Scotland.

Colin Cumberland, chair of the Scottish Home Awards judging panel, and head of residential at Ediston Real Estate, commented,

“In my first year as chair of these important awards, I have been impressed by the quality of the entries and the effort made by organisations to win these highly regarded awards.   Congratulations to all the finalists and winners and we look forward to the continued improvement of high quality, sustainable new build housing and excellent services to customers and tenants.”

Andrew Cunningham, Managing Director of Ross & Liddell, commented;

“Judging these awards is never easy as house builders are forever striving to meet and exceed client aspirations in terms of design, build quality and price.   The Scottish Home Awards play an important role in promoting new build housing with much needed recognition and celebration of excellence.

“Ross & Liddell are delighted to sponsor the Scottish Home Awards and we send our congratulations to this year’s winners who show the strength and depth of housebuilding in Scotland.”

The awards support the charity It’s Good 2 Give and its management of The Ripple Retreat a luxury residential retreat on the shores of Loch Venacher in Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park.
