Margaret Curran, MSP

Margaret Curran MSP was first elected to represent Glasgow Baillieston for the Scottish Labour Party in 1999 and was re-elected in 2003 and in 2007.

 

She is the former Deputy Minister for Social Justice and Minister for Communities and is currently the Labour Party Spokesperson on Communities and Health.

 

Before entering the Scottish Parliament, Margaret was a lecturer in community education having been involved in this area as a community worker.

 

Margaret first became politically active in the University of Glasgow Labour Club in the 1970's holding several posts in Labour student politics.

 

The constituency of Baillieston includes Baillieston, Garrowhill, Mount Vernon and the communities within Greater Easterhouse.
